Launched on 7 Sep 2020... by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot.
Pandemic induced psychological issues, mental health emergencies will be addressed and sorted.
-> It targets to resolve issues of people across the country experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, panic attack, adjustment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, pandemic-induced psychological issues and mental health emergency.
-> There will also be 75 experts at the 25 helpline centres who will consist of the capacity of handling 300 clients/h.
-> It will not just be limited for any individual but will provide support to NGOs, family, parent associations, rehabilitation institutes, professional associations, hospitals, or anyone in need of mental support in the country.

1. Dial the number from any mobile/landline of any telecom network from ANY part of India.
2. Welcome message. Select language by pressing the apt assigned button.
3. Select State/UT.
4. You'll get connected to the HelpLine Centre of the Native/Desired State. Mental Health expert will help to resolve the issue OR connect/refer to ext'l help (rehabilitation/clinical psychologists/psychiatrists).
-> It provides a 3-level mechanism of support:
1) The caller will first be connected to the location-based helpline centre;
2) As per need the caller will be referred to rehabilitation/clinical psychologists/psychiatrists; and
3) The follow-up and support will be extended at the third level.
